Optometrists

Our people make the all the difference.

Dr. Mark Veth

Dr. Mark Veth opened Be Spectacled in the fall of 2010. A resident of Wauwatosa, he was excited to bring the dream of his own shop and practice to such a great village area and business community.

Dr. Veth grew up in Chicago, completed his undergraduate degree at Marquette University, and attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He returned to Milwaukee to begin practicing as an optometrist for OptiVision in 2003.

Dr. Veth takes pride in providing both excellent eye care and eyewear for his patients. He will take the time to connect with you and make sure he understands your eye health concerns.

One of the things that he was most excited about in opening his own store was the chance to select the frames carried by Be Spectacled. He sees quality glasses as fashion pieces. Come in to meet Mark and his staff, and let them help you find a pair so you can Be Spectacled, too!

Dr. Susan Diederich

Dr. Susan Diederich was born and raised in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. She majored in Biology at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and earned her Doctorate in Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry.

Dr. Diederich joined the Be Spectacled team in 2012. She loves the excitement of the Tosa Village and the warm, welcoming environment at Be Spectacled.  Dr. Diederich realizes the importance of taking time to answer questions. She customizes eye exams to meet the specific needs of her patients. Dr. Diederich strives to make each patient feel like he or she is the most important person on her schedule.

When she is not at Be Spectacled, you can find Dr. Susan running, baking, or out on adventures with her husband and three children.

Dr. Payton Holden

Dr. Payton Holden is from Metamora, Michigan. She received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Oakland University and went on to complete her Doctorate in Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. She has completed a one-year additional residency in Vision Rehabilitation/Ocular Disease/Geriatric Eye Care in Chicago.

Dr. Holden joined the Be Spectacled team in August 2023 after moving to Brookfield from out of state. She loves the home town feel of Tosa Village and the team environment at Be Spectacled. In addition to working at Be Spectacled, she serves our nation's veterans one day a week at the Clement J. Zablocki VA.

Dr. Holden puts a priority in making every patient feel important and allowing them to get their concerns answered. She wants patients to leave the office seeing and feeling better than when they walked in. She has an emphasis in Low Vision Rehabilitation where she encourages patients who are blind or visually impaired to live a full independent life. She provides devices and resources to allow low vision patients to meet their goals.

In her spare time Dr. Holden enjoys reading, gardening, Zumba classes and weekly trivia with her fiancé and friends.
